Children Learn What They Live

If a Child Lives with Kindness...They Learn to Give

Our Influences On Children

The poster “children learn what they live” caught my eye while waiting at a doctor’s office the other day. It is a poignant reminder of the profound influence environment has on a child’s development. This simple yet profound statement encapsulates the essence of how children absorb and internalize the behaviors, attitudes, and values modeled by the significant adults in their lives. Parents, Grandparents, Teachers and Educators have a collective responsibility to expose children to positivity and encouragement on a daily basis.

Conscious or Subconscious Interaction leaves an Imprint

When I reflect on this statement, I am reminded of the immense responsibility that comes with being a parent, educator, or caregiver. Every interaction, whether conscious or subconscious, leaves an imprint on a child’s psyche. It underscores the importance of  where children feel safe to explore, learn, and grow.

Our Collective Responsibility with Positive Influences

“Children learn what they live” also prompts me to consider the broader societal implications. It speaks to the interconnectedness of individual experiences and societal outcomes. As a society, and educator myself  we have a collective responsibility to ensure that children are surrounded by positive influences that foster empathy, kindness, and resilience.

Creating an Equitable World

At its core, this statement serves as a powerful call to action. It reminds us, parents and educators that our words and actions carry weight, shaping the future generations. By embodying the values we wish to instill in our children and creating environments conducive to their holistic development, we can contribute to building a more compassionate and equitable world for generations to come.
